Age Eligibility Including Relaxation

The advertisement prescribes an age of 21 to 35 years, with relaxation that brings the upper limit to 40 years for male candidates and 43 years for female candidates. This is the Intelligence Officer age limit with relaxation: male candidates up to 40 years and female candidates up to 43 years. The age and sex of a transgender applicant are based on the contents of the CNIC. The relaxation and its conditions are those printed in the official advertisement, so confirm them there before applying.

Check your age against the cut-off date. Use the MOCC Age & Eligibility Calculator to check your age against the relevant examination cut-off date and understand your eligibility. The calculator is a free guide only and does not replace the official recruitment rules.

Intelligence Officer eligibility criteria: qualification

The advertisement allows either of the following qualification routes:

  • Route 1: Graduation (second division) from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission, plus basic knowledge of computer.
  • Route 2: Graduation (second division) from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission, plus five years of experience in the Intelligence Wing of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Check the full list of Important Instructions printed in the official advertisement.

Eligibility checklist

Tick each point against the official advertisement before you apply. If any point is unclear, ask PPSC rather than assume you are eligible.

  • Education: graduation in second division from an HEC-recognised university.
  • Route 1: basic knowledge of computer. Route 2: five years' experience in the Intelligence Wing of a law enforcing agency, gained after graduation.

How PPSC counts age. PPSC's Important Instructions say that where recruitment is made on the basis of a written examination, age is counted as on 1 January of the year in which the examination is proposed to be held, and in all other cases on the closing date. The advertisement does not announce the test date, so confirm with PPSC which date applies to you. PPSC takes your date of birth from your Secondary School (matriculation) certificate. The advertisement also says employees of the Federal Government, semi-government bodies and local bodies are not entitled to an age concession.

Suggested study plan (MOCC guidance, not official)

This is MOCC guidance, not an official requirement. The advertisement gives roughly 80% General Ability and 20% Basic Computer Studies, so split your time in a similar way and adjust to your weaker subjects.

  • Daily (about 2 hours): 60 minutes on one General Ability subject (for example Pakistan Studies one day, Geography the next), 20 minutes on English and Urdu, 20 minutes on Basic Mathematics or Everyday Science, and 20 minutes on computer basics every other day.
  • Current Affairs (15 minutes daily): read the Current Affairs Centre and note national and international developments in a short notebook.
  • Weekly: take one timed set of 100 MCQs in 90 minutes, then review every wrong answer and write down why it was wrong.
  • Final days: stop starting new books. Revise your notes, redo the questions you missed, and practise pacing so you can finish within 90 minutes.

Start with the free One Paper MCQ notes and the Digital Library. Broader context is in our PPSC preparation guide and the One Paper preparation hub.

Negative marking tip (MOCC guidance): PPSC deducts 0.25 marks for each wrong MCQ answer, so practise timed sets in which you mark the questions you would skip, then check afterwards whether skipping or answering would have scored better. Avoid blind guessing on questions where you cannot narrow down the options.

Interview preparation

PPSC shortlists candidates for interview on their written-test marks and, under its Important Instructions, calls five candidates for each post (the Chairman may increase this number). Candidates called for interview bring their original documents with two sets of photocopies. The advertisement does not publish interview questions, the interview marking scheme or interview dates, and MOCC cannot predict them. General preparation that helps in any public-sector interview: know your application details and documents thoroughly, revise your academic subjects, practise explaining your experience clearly and honestly, and stay current on national affairs. Check the PPSC website for the actual selection stages and dates.

  • روزانہ 15 منٹ کرنٹ افیئرز پڑھیں۔ کرنٹ افیئرز سینٹر سے مدد لیں۔
