SPSC Preparation: Exam Overview, MCQs & Resources

Sindh Public Service Commission

Provincial civil service recruitment for Sindh, including the Provincial Management Service -- overlapping heavily with PPSC-style general knowledge, current affairs and English testing.

SPSC (Sindh Public Service Commission) conducts recruitment for provincial civil service posts in Sindh, including the Provincial Management Service and other Sindh government departments.

Preparation for SPSC exams largely overlaps with PPSC-style testing: general knowledge, current affairs, English, and a subject-specific or general-ability paper depending on the post applied for.

How SPSC Recruitment Works

The Sindh Public Service Commission recruits for provincial posts in Sindh. Each advertisement states qualification, age limits, domicile conditions, syllabus and the number and type of tests. Read the advertisement to the end, including the notes on documents and deadlines.

What to Study

The general portion usually includes Pakistan affairs, Islamiat, English, current affairs and general knowledge, plus the subject of the post. Depending on the post, familiarity with Sindh’s history, geography and administration can help. Use it as supplementary reading after the official syllabus is covered.

Preparation Tips

  • Build a weekly plan with one subject focus per day.
  • Review wrong answers in practice tests and note the reason for each.
  • Keep current affairs notes short and dated.
  • Revise the full syllabus once before the test date.

Preparing for SPSC: What Is Specific to Sindh

SPSC posts are in the Sindh government. The advertisement sets the domicile and quota conditions, qualification, age limit and selection stages, so read those before you plan anything else. Provincial knowledge is then a practical way to strengthen general ability marks and interview answers.

A Sindh Knowledge Map for Aspirants

Make short notes from standard references and record the year beside every figure. History and heritage. The Indus Valley Civilisation and Mohenjo-daro, the arrival of Islam in Sindh, and Sindh’s role in the Pakistan movement. Geography and water. The capital Karachi, the lower Indus, the Sukkur Barrage and the canal system, the Thar region and the coastline. Economy. Karachi’s ports and industry, agriculture, and energy projects including the Thar coal field. Language and culture. The Sindhi language and literature and the province’s well-known Sufi tradition. Governance. The provincial structure after the 18th Amendment. These topics link directly to Pakistan Affairs and General Knowledge.

A Practical Study Order for SPSC

Read the advertisement and list the qualification, domicile rule, stages and closing date. Cover the common core of English, general knowledge, Pakistan Affairs, Islamiat and current affairs, then move to your specialist subject. Add the Sindh map above in the final weeks, together with timed MCQs from the MCQ Centre and weekly current affairs. This page does not state an SPSC syllabus or marking scheme because those depend on the post, so rely on the commission’s own notification. If you are applying across commissions, compare with PPSC, FPSC and the other commissions overview. The MOCC team can help with a study order on WhatsApp.

Free MOCC Tools for SPSC Aspirants

Use these alongside the official advertisement: the free one-paper notes, the MCQ Centre, the Digital Library, Current Affairs, the Age & Eligibility Calculator and the Test Series. New vacancies are listed on Latest Jobs with their official closing dates.

MOCC is an independent private academy. It is not part of any public service commission, and no academy can guarantee selection. The official advertisement is always the final authority on eligibility, syllabus, fee and deadline.

How to Practise MCQs for General Knowledge and Everyday Science

General knowledge and everyday science MCQs appear across PPSC, FPSC and one-paper competitive tests, and often decide the objective portion of the result. Unlike essay or precis papers, this section rewards accurate recall under time pressure — which means the right practice method matters as much as the reading itself. 1. Start With Past Papers, Not Random Question Banks Before reading broadly, go through recent past papers for your specific test (PPSC, FPSC or the relevant one-paper job) to see which topics actually recur — geography, current world affairs, basic physics/chemistry/biology, sports, and general science phenomena are common. This tells you where to focus your limited preparation time. 2. Build Subject-wise Fact Sheets Rather than cramming from scattered sources, build short fact sheets by subject — general knowledge, Pakistan-specific facts, and everyday science — so revision becomes quick scanning rather than re-reading full notes each time. 3. Practise Under Tim...
